This is my 3rd time to HK but it’s the 1st time I had a chance to go to Lantau Island 大屿山, where the famous Giant Buddha sits. Lantau Island is located near to the HK airport & so to get there from Hong Kong Station takes abt 35 mins by MTR & then 20 mins by cable car to reach Ngong Ping Village (near to the foot of the Giant Buddha).
For those of u who are keen to go, I suggest taking the Ngong Ping 360 cable car up as it’s really a scenic ride on the cable car , & it’s not tat ex too. U can see the pricing chart below 🙂 Here are some shots I took while on the cable car ^^
Do climb up the steps to reach the Giant Buddha, and probably even buy a ticket to get into the Buddha for an experience, as well as taste the vegetarian snacks or a full vegetarian meal which u get down to the foot again. We tried the vegetarian snack set tat costs HK$23 each. It’s not fantastic but still quite ok for me 🙂 Oh for those who like ginger taste I think u will like the beancurd in ginger sauce.
Overall, I think tourists to HK should all go to Lantau Island at least once, but probably not during the scorching summer (like I did) & ended up super sweaty & dehydrated. Hehe
