Norway hosted the 1952 Winter Olympics at this large ski jump hill located at Holmenkollen in Oslo. It has also hosted numerous ski festivals since 1892 and FIS Nordic World championships in 1930, 1966, 1982 and 2011. It has become one of the most popular tourist attraction in Norway
There is also a Holmenkollen Ski Museum which has a simulator that allows the public to visualise a ski jump in the hill.
I read online that all spectators to the Ski Championships or Festivals must use the Holmenkollen line of Oslo Metro, and the station is within walking distance of the large hill and cross-country stadium. Such a green effort! Too bad we went as a group tour couldn’t experience their only Metro line with platforms long enough for 6 cars. Maybe there will be a next time. 😉
