Sokos Hotel Presidentti, Helsinki

This was our last hotel for the entire Scandinavia trip.  Perhaps that’s why it was one of the better hotels we stayed in, given that they want to leave us with pleasant memories of the trip? 😛  In fact it’s the second best hotel throughout our 9 nights in Scandinavia.  The best of course is still Scandic Oslo Airport Hotel which I reviewed in an earlier post. 🙂

It’s a 4-star hotel, located next to the Kamppi shopping center, in the heart of Helsinki.  Getting around the city is pretty convenient since buses, trams, and the metro (Kamppi station) are all nearby, and many attractions in the city are accessible by foot.  Think this is also the largest hotel amongst all that we stayed at for the trip – with 494 rooms!  There are so many rooms on each level that we had to orientate ourselves a while before we could find our own room after getting out from the elevator! Haha.

Overall it was quite a pleasant stay as the room we stayed in was large, clean and looks more like a 4-star hotel than any others that the tour agent claimed.  We also could walk to the Helsinki Central Railway Station, Kamppi shopping center/ metro and many other attractions.  Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure:

Oh one happy thing to tell you: surprisingly many of the shops in the Kamppi shopping center were only till about 9pm on the Friday that we visited!  Quite surprised cos we thought European shops don’t open till very late.  Apparently on its official website, the opening hours are 9am to 9pm on weekdays, 9am to 6pm on Saturdays and noon to 6pm on Sundays.  Luckily we were there on a Friday! 😉  You can check this out at
