Yangmingshan National Park 阳明山国家公园

The first attraction we headed to upon arriving in Taipei was Yangmingshan National Park (阳明山国家公园).  Almost everyone was “red-eyed” due to lack of proper sleep on the early morning Tranasia flight & long queue at the airport customs.

Our first stop at Yangmingshan was at Xiaoyoukeng Recreation Area (小油坑).  This is part of Mt. Qixing (七星山), a volcano of 1,120 m high and is the highest mountain in the Taipei basin.

Not as cool as I expected - 27 deg even on the mountain! :O

Yangmingshan is very near to Beitou, which I visited last September. Hence the hot springs here in Yangmingshan also contain natural green sulphur like those in Beitou. Just that the water temperature here wasn’t as high as Beitou’s Thermal Valley. The highest temperature is only about 40 degrees here.

After touring Xiaoyoukeng for about half an hour, we proceeded to the lake to see Calla Lily (海芋). However to our disappointment, the flowers were not in season and we walked for almost 40 min before we could pay to see some Calla Lilies. 😦 I did not walk all the way in as my head started to ache due to the sunny weather and lack of sleep. So here are 2 miserable pictures I attempted to take :p:

Not much fascination in this Yangmingshan tour for me. Wonder if it is really because there is nothing much at Yangmingshan, or was it because my body was not in the right condition to enjoy the nature…

Found 2 pictures of the Calla Lily lake from my colleague’s camera as she walked further into the park, share with all of you here 🙂
