Five Dime Restaurant 五角船板

Five Dime Restaurant (五角船板), located next to Miramar Entertainment Park, is an eye-catching building with elaborate sculptures that one can spot from afar.  We had our company dinner there on our first night in Taipei and it was quite an interesting experience having dinner in this “tribal feel” restaurant. 🙂

The entrance to the restaurant already gives one a mystic feel!

We had booked the top floor of the restaurant so everyone had to walk up the slope and “horrifying” wide steps for our dinner. “Horrifying” because the gaps between each step was wide and one feels like one is stepping into thin air while walking up the stairs, see the picture of the steps below 😛

All the tables were huge and could probably seat at least 12 people comfortably?

We mingled with one another for quite a while before the food was served. It was literally a feast! As there were too many dishes being served, I didn’t manage to take pictures of the dishes, and could only take a picture of the food I put on my plate hehe.

It was quite a satisfying meal and we ate to our heart’s content (at least my table did haha). There were other dishes such as prawns, diced chives (surprisingly I couldn’t stop eating them!), soup etc. Before the trip I had read other bloggers commenting that the food at this restaurant is average although the building design is unique, but I thought the food was somewhat to my liking. 🙂

Thus, if you are looking for a meal with an unique ambience, no harm dropping by Five Dime Restaurant by taking the Miramar shuttle bus from Jiantan MRT or Zhongshan Junior High School Station. 🙂
