The famous tourist area in Niagara Falls is called Clifton Hill, where there are many hotels, restaurants and shops for tourists visiting Niagara Falls. I think it was the only time we stayed near to so many shops and restaurants for this trip haha.
Besides exploring the area after watching the illumination of lights at the Falls, we also browsed around the area after the exciting Maid of the Mist boat tour and had our lunch there before leaving for Toronto in the afternoon. See the pictures below for what we found:
The Clifton Hill district is not very big, but there are quite a few museums with different themes, haunted houses and video arcades. There is a Louis Tussaud’s Waxworks too, is it of any relation to Madame Tussaud’s? A check on Wikipedia and I found that Madame Tussaud was actually the great grandmother of Louis Tussaud.
We had fun wandering around and finally decided to settle for lunch at Wendy’s. Gosh there was such a long queue at the restaurant! We bought a Spicy Chicken combo meal to share as we were not really hungry after a heavy breakfast at Sheraton on the Falls before checking out of the hotel.
The combo meal cost CAD8.60 (about S$10.60) and included the burger, regular fries and drink (we picked Fruit Punch-like drink but forgot its name). As Wendy’s was crowded, we bought back to our hotel lobby to eat since we were supposed to meet our tour group there to depart for Toronto too. The Spicy Chicken burger was yummy and quite spicy. Wonder if the locals can actually take such spiciness? 😛
Overall, it was great to be free & easy for that few hours in Clifton Hill! 😉 But it’s sad that we had to leave the lovely Niagara Falls so fast!
